Customization Capabilities
As it has been already mentioned, customization capabilities are very significant for the Vine system, because customization provides a possibility to fine-tune the whole system according to specific customer requirements.
Customizing Database Objects
The set of nine standard objects supported by Vine can be easily supplemented with additional custom objects. Using the Vine Object Manager application it is possible to create a new database object and seamlessly integrate it into the Vine system.
Customizing Vine
The functionality of Vine for Windows(called Vintage earlier) can be customized and enhanced to suit additional demands. You can develop a .NET or ActiveX plug-in that would communicate with Vine’s Automation Server and would be able to accomplish almost any task. For example, plug-ins are often used for automating regular sequences of user actions, creating various kinds of reports or communicating with mailing applications.
Vine's Automation Server is able to create and expose a number of COM objects that plug-ins can communicate with through supported properties, methods and events. The Vine executable contains a type library that can be used for providing early binding capabilities.
Plug-ins are installed using Vine Web Administrator’s console. They are centrally stored in the Server Database and copied to those clients that are authorized to use them.
